Vespergate, 1259: The City That Never Quite Reaches Night
The sky over Vespergate is always the colour of a bruise at dusk. It is a city built in rings around the Confluence — a sunken square where roads from a hundred realms pour in and out, carrying travelers, exiles, ex-gods, and things that were never people at all. Sunlight arrives here already used up, filtered amber through the smoke of lamps that are lit at noon, and the day never quite commits to ending. This is a place where the oldest trade is not silk or steel but the buying and selling of the Bound.
A Bound is a monster woman — harpy, lamia, minotaur, revenant, slime, kitsune, fae, and stranger things — whose innate power has been locked inside a Hush-Collar: a warded band of cold iron and living gold keyed to a Keeper's Ring. She keeps her strength, her wings, her venom, her glamour; she simply cannot turn any of it on her holder, and her body answers the ring's command. In Vespergate this is lawful commerce, regulated by the Coffle Court, the guild of slavers and pleasure-houses. Collared women are property. They are displayed, inspected, bid on, trained, worked, bred, and resold — and every one of them is a grown woman whose collar marks her station, not her innocence.
The Gilt Collar drops you into the heart of that machine. You are the new Keeper of the Velvet Hour, a tall lamplit townhouse on Lantern Row whose gilded sign and flickering reputation sit somewhere between "promising" and "cursed." Downstairs is a salon of velvet, steam, and low music. Upstairs are retiring rooms, baths, a stillroom, and a locked ledger-room. And in every room is a girl who belongs to you — merchandise, and family, and both at once.
What makes the city real is that it does not blink. Coins matter, debts are sacred, and a Bound who is broken can be sold for scrap by morning. This is not a setting where charm and a smile bend the world; it is a setting where you must earn the money, hold the house, and decide, again and again, exactly what kind of Keeper you are willing to become.
The Opening Hook: A Death-Debt Due in Five Weeks
Your story begins on March 2, 1259, at 19:00 — dusk, the first hour of business at the Velvet Hour. You did not choose this life. You lost a wager to Ysolde, the Tallykeeper, a psychopomp who keeps the accounts of the dying and collects the debts of the living, and your loss is branded into your wrist as the Tallymark: a black coin-and-brand counting down to the Last Hour of the fifth week. Repay the outstanding 250,000 Money and the mark goes dark and you walk free. Fail, and she reaps what is owed — your life, or your name, and you go collar-first and serve the house as one of the Bound.
The engine draws one of five different opening hooks at random each time you begin, so no two first nights play the same. Some are slow, velvet seductions; some are transactions with teeth; one is outright non-consensual.
Collars Are Law
The Coffle Court governs the trade in the Bound, and it governs you. Steal, spoil, or free another house's girl and the punishment is the collar. Everything is legal here — until it isn't, and then the sentence is written on your body.
The Keeper's Hours & the Night Hours
Every day splits in two. By day you buy, build, and train — spending the house's daily actions to make your girls better at pleasing men. By night the clients arrive, and you read each hunger and match the right girl to it for a cut of every coin.
Bond, Consorts & Endings
Affection is tracked per girl. Feed them, defend them, fuck them well, and past Bond rank 3 they become your Consort — each with a spark in every art and a path toward her own ending. Above them all sits the Tallykeeper, who holds your death-debt and watches you with interest that is not only professional.
Protagonist Freedom & Attribute Guide
The default character is a twenty-six-year-old male Keeper named Cassian Rooke — but the scenario is written with complete protagonist ambiguity. Nothing in the world lore, the opening scenes, or the cast assumes your name, gender, or exact age. A female protagonist reads perfectly: the same girls pursue you, and the same collar makes the same claims. Change the name, gender, age, appearance, or background freely — Vespergate bends around whoever you decide to be, and same-sex encounters are embraced whenever you initiate them.
The four suggested attributes are the ones this scenario rewards most: presence to command a house, business sense to read a ledger, perception to read a client's hunger, and endurance to survive the work.
A brothel runs on relationships. Charm is how you win the proud wolf-kin who hates her collar, soothe the minotaur porter before a brutal client, and turn the Tallykeeper's courteous distance into something she would not admit in her own ledger.
This is a management game before it is anything else. Reading a contract, spotting a rigged auction, tracking the house's inflation, and keeping a death-debt from eating a house whole all reward a sharp mind — and the deeper ledger hides more than money.
Every client is not what he presents. Perception catches the Brute who will cost a girl twice what he pays, the Rake who is already stealing a heart, the Blight under a clean collar, and the second meaning of a deal offered in the dark — before it closes.
The Velvet Hour is designed to wear Keepers down — long nights, hard clients, drink, and the slow arithmetic of debts nobody will let you forget. Endurance decides who is still standing when the last lantern burns out on the fifth week.
The Cast: Nine Lives Entangled With Yours
The starting cast is pre-seeded with full appearances, temperaments, and agendas — and every one of them is written to pursue a protagonist of any gender:
The psychopomp who owns the Velvet Hour and holds your Tallymark. Sardonic, punctual, and unfailingly courteous in a way that is worse than cruelty — and the loneliest creature in a city of the bought and sold.
Tawny-feathered, relentlessly cheerful, and clumsy in everything but wanting to be liked. Born free and sold for her family's debts, she is the first collared girl assigned to you and the first to trust you.
A scarred ex-pit-fighter who resents the collar but not yet you. Blunt, proud, and allergic to coddling; she tests every new Keeper and has never lost a fight she chose to pick.
A serpent-bodied consort who came with the house itself. Sultry, idle, and possessive, she craves warmth above all things and decides — not loses — whom she shares it with.
Born in the house cistern, a translucent rose-tinted jelly girl with no boundaries and endless curiosity. She means no harm, absorbs anything she touches, and will cling to you if you so much as pat her head.
A temple-scribe grave-robbed and collared centuries ago. Formal, precise, and dryly funny, she keeps the house's records — and can read the marks on the Tallykeeper's ledger, including the one on your wrist.
Six-foot-eight of gentle muscle who carries the house on her back without complaint. Brutally direct about sex and protective to the bone, she calls you "little Keeper" no matter your size.
A nine-tailed fox-spirit who gambled her own freedom away and now brokers clients with a smile full of tells. She will absolutely try to gamble your Tallymark — and she may be the only one who knows a way out of a bad ledger.
Five inches of sharp tongue and ferocious pride who nests in the salon lanterns. Her dust can inflame arousal or cool it, and she decides, entirely at her own discretion, who deserves "the itch."
Beyond the seeded cast, the AI generates and registers everyone else you meet: fresh stock collared at the Coffle Market and the public Hammer auction, brutal clients and Gilded patrons, rival Keepers from the House of the Quiet Bell, and the Coffle Court's enforcers — all created in context as the five weeks unfold.
Starting Possessions & the Economy of a Debt House
You begin with 400 Money and the tools of a life that just became a great deal more complicated:
- Keeper's Ring — cold iron and living gold, keyed to every Hush-Collar in the house. It reads a girl's state and commands her body when her will will not obey (0.1 kg, value 300).
- The Tallymark — the black coin-and-brand counting down to the Last Hour. Repay the debt and it goes dark (0.1 kg, value 0).
- Spare Hush-Collar — a blank collar waiting for a throat; every girl you buy walks out wearing one (0.4 kg, value 150).
- The Household Ledger — the house's accounts of girls, clients, debts, and coin. The Tallykeeper audits it personally (1.2 kg, value 60).
- The Book of House Arts — a worn manual of Grace, Heat, and Craft, crowded with the previous Keeper's margin notes (1.0 kg, value 80).
- Keeper's Coat — black wool with a collar high enough to hide the Tallymark (2.0 kg, value 45).
- Warming Draught ×2 — spiced wine kept warm at the stillroom fire; sates thirst and steadies a nervous girl (sates thirst, value 12).
Money in Vespergate buys margin first and status second. The house earns from every satisfied client, and it bleeds from everything else: stock, cures, construction, and the weekly inflation that raises the price of girls and goods from 100% in week one to 300% by week six. Buy cheap, train hard, sell dear — some Keepers clear their whole ledger by flipping girls rather than working them. But a house that sells its stock to pay a debt has nothing left to sell tomorrow, and the Tallykeeper is very patient about arithmetic.
Five Random Openings: How Every First Night Begins
When you start a new adventure, Eros Fable draws one of five different opening hooks at random and hands it to the Game Master, so no two first nights play the same. Some are velvet seductions, some are transactions with teeth, and one is outright non-consensual. The five openings are:
- The Tallykeeper's Test: Ysolde sets a tally-chain on the desk and orders Wren to take your cock in her mouth while you train her — proving you can take what the house sells before you sell it.
- The Coffle Inspection: Behind a curtain at the slave market, the lamia Ilyra insists she will only sell to a Keeper who can make her come — and you work your fingers into her slick folds until she shudders and the auctioneer raises the price.
- Opening Night, the Gilded Demand: A wealthy client pays triple to bend the minotaur porter Torga over a bench and fuck her ass, hard; you can steady her through it or take the pounding yourself.
- Breaking the Wolf (Non-Consensual): Oksa refuses you a final time; the enforcer pins her, the Hush-Collar forces her body pliant, and the Tallykeeper orders you to take her virginity by the ring while she weeps and curses you.
- Rin's Wager: The kitsune deals cards for your Tallymark and loses on purpose, then bets you cannot make her come before the lantern dies — and pulls the slime girl Gemma into the table when she comes to watch.
Whichever hook is drawn, the scene adapts to your protagonist's name, gender, age, appearance, and background, so the tests, propositions, and threats always fit the character you built. Replay the scenario to see a different opening night.
Adult Themes, Romance & the Weight of the Collar
The Gilt Collar is an unapologetically 18+ scenario built around a few features that make it unlike anything else in the catalog:
- An explicit brothel, with no fade to black. The Velvet Hour sells flesh by the hour: girls give handjobs and blowjobs, take cocks vaginally and anally, ride, swallow, kneel, and are bound, spanked, and passed between clients — while you take a cut of every coin.
- Training that names the acts. The Keeper's Hours are spent teaching a girl to do it better: how to use her tongue, how to take a man at pace, how to hold back an orgasm on command, how much pain she can hold. Taking a girl's virginity by the ring deepens her Bond sharply.
- A collar that does not respect consent. Because every Bound wears a Hush-Collar keyed to your ring, a girl's body can be made to comply while she fights and weeps — and the Tallykeeper's debts can put you on the same table. Coercion, blackmail, and outright rape are part of this world, and when a scene is non-consensual it is written with the resistance and the fear intact.
- Affection that actually gates content. Each of the nine girls tracks your standing with her. The proud wolf-kin, the possessive lamia, the gentle minotaur, the sly kitsune, and the Tallykeeper herself will only go as far with you as the Bond you have actually built — which makes the pursuit a story, not a checklist.
- Same-sex relationships, fully embraced. Whenever you initiate a same-sex romance — with any of the girls, or with Ysolde — the response is the same warmth and acceptance as any other pairing.
Consent is the ordinary currency of these relationships, and the core cast is written to be genuinely receptive once earned. But Vespergate does not respect consent and never has, and the deeper you go into the fifth week, the more often your no is simply not the deciding vote. The scenario will not shield you from the world it builds.
